I could have sworn that was tight.

Over the years, we’ve seen all manner of mechanical malady from wheels parting company with hubs at speed, through to suspension failures and gearboxes full of neutrals. We’ve seen every electrical gremlin that the Prince of Darkness can conjure; from faulty fuel pumps through to kill switches being knocked by errant whiskey bottles wandering around under the back seat.

It’s par for the course and part and parcel with driving our 60 year old classics for a spirited weekend, covering almost 1000 kilometres of New South Wales’ most breathtaking roads.

Each year we hear examples of misfortune, followed by reports of the owner dashing home to grab another car, just to be a part of the Classic. The magic of our pretend rally is that even faced with adversity, our competitors find a way.

The Busted Nut Award is awarded each year to the greatest story of resilience and resolve and recognises a person or group who pushed on to Rylstone, despite the challenge.
